Dog Cognition Assessment

A scientific approach to help you gain a deeper understanding of your dog through games and challenges. This service follows a scientifically developed framework called Dognition®.

Connect with your dog

Have you ever wanted to improve your understanding of your dog and communicate better with them?

Is your dog ignoring commands, or are you struggling to understand their behaviour? Dogs have their own style of communication and use a range of strategies to solve problems and interact with humans.

The Dognition scientific framework will provide you with valuable insights into what makes your dog tick. Based on a series of games and challenges, this service identifies your dog’s cognitive style and matches them to one of nine dog profiles.

What does science have to say about your dog?

    • Aces (10%) are the dogs that are pros at reading and understanding social information, and also very good at solving problems on their own.

    • Charmers (16%) have exceptional social skills and they can expertly read human body language. Charmers can be quite mischievous, clever and are deeply in tune with their owner.

    • Socialites (22%) are very talented when it comes to interacting, communicating and using humans to get what they want.

    • Experts (7%) have the tools they need to solve daily problems on their own and are not as reliant on humans as other dogs.

    • Renaissance Dogs (12%) are consistent achievers and are good at a little bit of everything. They use skills from all cognitive dimensions.

    • Protodogs (15%) are most like our first canine friends. They use social skills to interact with humans but can also solve problems on their own.

    • Einsteins (3%) are the rocket scientists of the dog world and have a unique ability to comprehend the physical world and flexibly solve a problem they have not encountered before.

    • Mavericks (7%) have characteristics like their wolf ancestors, are strongly independent and can solve problems in their own way.

    • Stargazers (8%) are thought to be aloof or mysterious and are self-reliant. They are wolf-like and so may have to work harder in social situations.

Your dog will have lots of fun during the assessment and there are no right or wrong answers.
